 This three-draw terrestrial telescope, crafted by the renowned 18th-century Venetian instrument maker Biasio Burlini, exemplifies the exquisite craftsmanship of the Rococo period. The tube features a unique paper-core construction wrapped in tooled vellum, adorned with finely embossed decorative patterns, and reinforced with horn and brass fittings. The original maker’s inscription remains visible on the barrel, accompanied by three sets of period lenses—all maintaining functional integrity. A masterpiece of Venetian scientific instrumentation, it harmoniously blends utilitarian precision with ornamental artistry.
