　　作爲科學史名著的初始版本和接近歐洲早期印刷時代的出版物，《天體運行論》第一版（紐倫堡）、第二版（巴塞爾）在全世界僅存500餘本，是「最昂貴的古董書」之一。中國境內僅存兩本巴塞爾版《天體運行論》，一本收藏於中國國家圖書館，被列入「國家珍貴古籍名錄」，另一本即托勒密博物館藏本。該本由歷代科學家、收藏家遞藏400餘年，流傳有序，哈佛大學科學史系前主任金格里奇教授給予高度評價。

　As a seminal work in the history of science and a publication close to the early era of European printing, the first edition (Nuremberg) and second edition (Basel) of De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium are among the “most expensive antiquarian books” in the world, with only slightly over 500 copies surviving globally.
　In China, only two copies of the Basel edition exist—one housed in the National Library of China and listed in the National Catalogue of Rare Ancient Books, and the other preserved in the Ptolemaic Museum. The latter copy has been passed down through generations of scientists and collectors for over 400 years, with a well-documented provenance. It has received high acclaim from Professor Owen Gingerich, former chair of Harvard University’s Department of the History of Science.
